1) Who are the Titans?
Mythilogical Greek Gods associated with the planets.
2) Are the any interesting motifs you see frequently appearing (Eg. Lightning bolts)? How do you interpret their meaning? Can you name a modern version, of this motif, used today?
Changing Weather - Symbolic of the emotions and mindstate of the Gods, we see early in the film when Zues’ statue is destroyed the sky immediatly turns to storms as Hades exacts his revenge.
Lightning - Gives connection between the Gods and Man, coming from the sky and connecting with the earth. Also shows the Gods strength and power over all earthly beings.
The Sun - Is seen and symbolized throughtout the movie, it displays Perseus’ connection to the earth and his desire to remain as a man while resisting the temptations of becoming a God.
3) Is your Greek character in the movie? If so, does the film’s interpretation match your research?
Poseidon is mentioned and seen breifly in the movie, he is mentioned as the God of the Sea and seen looking muscular and illuminated with his trident, always directly next to or behind Zues.
5) Are any of the characters, in the movie, related (Eg. a mother or father, wife or husband, brother or sister) to your Greek myth? If so, how?
Hades and Zues, two of the main characters are Poseidons brother’s.
Poseidon also had a love affair with Medusa, which resulted in her becoming the creature we see in the movie.Pegasus, the flying horse is also somewhat of a child of Poseidon, being the result of his love affair with Medusa.
6) Is there a constellation of stars named after your Greek character?
Delphinus, “The Dolphin”, is an ancient constellation located just west of Pegasus.
Delphinus was a messenger of Poseidon’s who persuaded Amphitrite to return to him and become Queen of the Sea.
Delphinus was later put in the heavens as a constellation by a grateful Poseidon.
7) How is Medusa killed? Does your Greek character have a weakness?
Her only weakness is exploited and her head is cut off!
Posiedon has no physical weaknesses, but he has been decived and is often moody. Those who decieve or trick him should be careful not to get caught because of his vengful nature.
